Mid-founder who took the Jeongseon seat; said to be an eighth-generation descendant of Jeon Seop

Jeon Seon (全愃) is the eighth-generation descendant of the first ancestor Jeon Seop and the mid-founder from whom the Jeongseon seat is drawn. Clan accounts say that in the 22nd year of King Seongdeok of Silla (723) he went to Tang China and introduced its learning, rose to Minister of Law (Jeonbeop Panseo) and was enfeoffed as Lord of Jeongseon (旌善君). His descendants honored him as founder and took Jeongseon as their seat.
Another account says he escorted Princess Daegwang of Baekje into Silla and held the titles of Bongik Daebu and Deputy Royal Secretary. The two versions differ by source, and his dates are unknown.
The seat is Jeongseon because Jeon Seon was enfeoffed as Lord of Jeongseon (today's Jeongseon County in Gangwon), which remained a dependent county of Gangneung until Goryeo. His descendants took Jeongseon as their seat and honored him as mid-founder, and the Jeongseon Jeon lineage continues from there.
Namuwiki and Wikipedia describe him as the eighth-generation mid-founder who entered Silla with Princess Daegwang, while the clan association adds the 723 mission to Tang; some sources read that year as the date of his enfeoffment. The character of his name is also written differently in places (愃 or 渲). Check the grand genealogy for the authoritative version.
His tomb is said to lie in the clan graveyard on Seounsan in Nakdong-ri, Nam-myeon, Jeongseon, where descendants hold the annual rite on the 15th of the ninth lunar month. A spirit-path stele pavilion was reportedly built in 1925, and Seoun-jae and Sungmosa serve as ritual halls (Gangwon Domin Ilbo 2002; clan association).
Descendants are found across Gangwon (Jeongseon, Pyeongchang, Gangneung, Cheorwon) and the whole country. Jeon Chung-hyo (1433-1492), a 23rd-generation descendant who served as Magistrate of Munchon, settled at Yongji village in Gangneung and is regarded as the founder of the Gangneung Jeongseon Jeon.
