Life & career

Ji Baek-ho (智白虎) is the figure handed down as the village chief of Jinjichon (珍支村, later Bonpibu), one of the Six Villages (Yukbu) of Silla, and is revered as the progenitor of all Jeong (鄭) clans (do-sijo).

According to tradition, as one of the six village chiefs of early Silla he took part in the elevation of Bak Hyeokgeose, and in the year 32 (9th year of King Yuri of Silla) he was granted the surname Jeong and took Gyeongju as his ancestral seat, later branching off to Dongnae to become the origin of the Dongnae Jeong clan.

Descendants

Various Jeong clans, including those seated at Gyeongju and Dongnae, revere him as their common progenitor.
