Ju I (pen name Iyodang), who built Hoyeonjeong pavilion and taught students
| Life | 1515 ~ 1564 |
| Era | 조선 중기 |
| Clan | 상주 주씨 |
Ju I (given as 1515-1564; pen name Iyodang) is described as a relative of Ju Se-bung (reported as his nephew). After a final post as magistrate of Yean he is said to have retired to Yulgok in Hapcheon, built Hoyeonjeong pavilion and taught students. An anecdote says the emperor praised a pine poem he wrote on a mission to Ming, though the dates in sources do not agree. The pavilion was burned in the Imjin War and rebuilt by descendants, and is a Gyeongnam tangible cultural property. He is a different person from the clan's founder Ju I (周頤), with a different hanja and era.
