Last seongju of Tamna; asked to change the titles seongju and wangja to Left and Right Dojigwan
| Life | 1411 |
| Era | 조선 초기 |
| Clan | 제주 고씨 |
Go Bong-rye (高鳳禮, ?-1411) was an early-Joseon military officer and seongju of Tamna of the Jeju Go clan, traditionally a son of the earlier seongju Go Sin-geol. He is said to have died on 29 November 1411.
In 1402, while seongju, he petitioned the court to revise the titles. The hereditary titles seongju and wangja held by the Go and Yang clans were said to be above their station, and as a result seongju became Left Dojigwan and wangja became Right Dojigwan. This change is regarded as folding Tamna's own titles into the Joseon official system.
From 1404 he served as Joseon's Left Dojigwan, succeeding Go Sin-geol, with Go Chung-eon as successor. Go Sin-geol is founder of the Jeonseo-gong branch, and his grandson Go Deuk-jong went on to serve at the Joseon court. Some accounts credit him with pacifying Jeju but the details could not be confirmed here.
His 1402 request turned seongju into Left Dojigwan and wangja into Right Dojigwan, ending titles that had passed down since Silla and Goryeo.
He held the post of Left Dojigwan from 1404, after Go Sin-geol and before Go Chung-eon.
Before him Go In-dan was remembered as seongju, and after him Go Deuk-jong as a civil official. The house shifted from local power on Tamna toward the central bureaucracy.
His tomb was not confirmed.
