Park Si-mun (courtesy name Ja-so) is presented as the founder of the Yangju branch of the Gangneung Park clan. The encyclopedia gives his great-great-grandfather Park Yeon as a Goryeo Kukjabaksa, great-grandfather Park Ji-gye as a Yemungwan scholar, grandfather Park Ja-geom as magistrate of Dancheon under Sejong and father Park Jung-sin as magistrate of Yeongheung. Two mothers are recorded (a Gangneung Kim and a Gwangju Yi), and his elder brothers were Si-won, Si-chang, Si-hyeong and Si-haeng.
He passed the civil examination in 1486 and served as Jeonjeok and magistrate of Pyeonghae. All five brothers passed examinations and were known for filial piety. In late life he returned home and joined the Geumnan Banwolhoe society. His wife was a daughter of Choe So-nam of the Gangneung Choe clan.
His tomb lies below Jeungbong in Unjeong-dong, in the clan burial ground west of Gyeongpo Lake. The entry gives neither the origin of the branch name nor the reason he became its founder.
His line runs from Park Yeon through Park Ji-gye and Park Ja-geom to his father Park Jung-sin.
Elder brothers Park Si-hyeong and Park Si-haeng; his nephew Park Gong-dal.
