Life & career

Yang Se-bong (梁世奉) was an independence activist who served in the 1930s as commander-in-chief of the Korean Revolutionary Army (Joseon Hyeongmyeonggun) in southern Manchuria. Allied with Chinese anti-Japanese armed forces, he won major victories against the Japanese army and the Manchukuo army in battles such as those at Yeongneungga (永陵街) and Heunggyeongseong (興京城). In 1934 he was lured into a trap by a Japanese collaborator-spy and died a martyr; in 1962 he was posthumously awarded the Order of Merit for National Foundation, Presidential Medal.
