Life & career
Yang U-ryang is the founding ancestor of the Namwon Yang clan. Originally a member of the Jeju Yang clan, he was enfeoffed as Lord of Namwon (Namwon-bubaek) in 757 (the 16th year of King Gyeongdeok of Silla) for his merits, after which his descendants took Namwon as their clan seat. For this reason the Namwon Yang clan honors Yang U-ryang as their gaesaseongjo, the ancestor from whom their clan name was newly granted.
Descendants
His descendants took Namwon as their clan seat and carried on the lineage through such branches as the Byeongbugong, Yongseonggun, and Daebanggun lines.
