Yang Neung-yang (梁能讓) served as Byeongbu Nangjung (a director in the Ministry of War) and as a lecturer to the Crown Prince under King Seongjong of Goryeo. He is the founder of the Byeongbugong (兵部公) branch of the Namwon Yang clan, which is named after his office in the Ministry of War. The Busan history and culture encyclopedia describes him as the husband of a great-granddaughter of King Taejo of Goryeo.
The Byeongbugong branch is the largest branch of the clan; according to Wikipedia, about 80% of Namwon Yang members belong to it. The Munyanggong branch, founded by the early Joseon scholar Yang Seong-ji, is also a sub-branch of it.
Most sources write the last character of his name as 讓, but an older version of Namuwiki and surname.info write 能襄. His dates and burial site could not be confirmed.
The Yang Clan Grand Genealogy published in 1979 was compiled jointly by the Yugyeokgong, Daebang-gun, Yongseong-gun, Byeongbugong and Seongjugong branches. Of these, the Byeongbugong branch takes Namwon as its seat. The Munyanggong branch and its sub-branch, the Susagong branch, both split off from it.
According to Wikipedia, in May 2025 the heads of six branches, including the Byeongbugong branch, agreed to unify the Yang Central Clan Association.
Part of the Byeongbugong branch's generation-name sequence listed on Wikipedia is: 28th 煥, 29th 在, 30th 錫, 31st 承·泰, 32nd 模·植 and 33rd 熙·憲. The sequence is set through the 59th generation (孝·廷).
Not confirmed. Altars for the 1st to 9th generations of the Byeongbugong branch are said to be in Namwon.
His Byeongbugong descendants make up about 80% of the Namwon Yang clan, and the Munyanggong and Susagong branches descend from this line.
