Founding ancestor of the Papyeong Yun clan (Goryeo Merit Subject Painted on the Wall of the Three Han)

Yun Sin-dal was the founding ancestor of the Papyeong Yun clan. He helped Taejo Wang Geon unify the Later Three Kingdoms and found Goryeo, earning the honor of Samhan Byeoksang Merit Subject.
According to historical accounts, he served as a military commander under the Taebong regime before Goryeo's founding, then rose to Cavalry Marshal and later the senior rank of Taesa Samjungdaegwang after Goryeo was established; his son Yun Seon-ji is said to have continued the family line.
Legend holds that an infant found in a golden chest floating in a pond at the foot of Mount Papyeong was raised by an old woman who noticed a mark resembling the character "Yun" on his palm, though this is likely a later embellishment and he more probably received the Yun surname as a bestowal from Wang Geon for his founding merit. His fourth-generation descendant was Yun Gwan, who subjugated the Jurchen and built the Nine Fortresses of the northeast; the clan reveres Yun Gwan as a secondary founding ancestor.
The clan takes his fourth-generation descendant Yun Gwan as its restoring ancestor and carries on the lineage.
