Park Yeong-mun urged people to join the 1919 Iri market-day manifestation in Iksan and died shouting for independence.
A native of Osan-myeon, Iksan, he was studying at Jungdong School in Seoul when the March 1st Movement broke out; he returned home and led a manifestation at the Geumma-myeon market. On April 4, 1919, he joined fellow Jungdong School alumni Kim Jong-hyeon, Kim Cheol-hwan and Yi Si-ung at the Iri market-day protest, which grew to about 1,000 people, and was shot dead by Japanese troops while shouting for independence.
