Life & career

Kim Do-tae (1891-1956), from Jeongju, North Pyongan Province, studied at Osan School and graduated from the Seisoku English School in Japan in 1912, afterward teaching geography and history at Sinheung Military Academy in Manchuria and the Christian Myeongsin School in Jaeryeong.

During the 1919 March First Movement he was one of the 48 signatories associated with the national representatives, serving as a go-between carrying the plans between Choe Nam-seon and Osan School founder Yi Seung-hun; he was arrested but acquitted the following year. He later worked as an educator, teaching at Hwimun High School and serving as principal of Gyeongseong Girls' Commercial School.
