Gwon Dong-jin (1861-1947) was a Cheondogyo follower and one of the 33 national representatives of the March 1st Movement. A native of the Andong Gwon clan, he used the pen names Udang and Aedang and the Cheondogyo name Silam.
He took part in founding Singanhoe and served as its vice-president, and after liberation founded and led the Sinhan Minjok Party. He was posthumously awarded the Order of Merit for National Foundation (Presidential Medal) in 1962.
He is usually described as from Goesan in Chungcheong, though one account gives Pocheon in Gyeonggi, so sources differ.
As a Cheondogyo leader he joined the 33 national representatives. He later took part in founding Singanhoe, becoming vice-president, and after liberation led the Sinhan Minjok Party.
One source records his role around the 1895 Eulmi incident and a later period of exile in Japan. Accounts differ on the facts, so specialist studies are best consulted.
After cremation in 1947 his remains are said to have been placed in the family hill in Goesan.
