Gwon Eung-su (1546-1608) was a mid-Joseon volunteer-army leader and military officer from Andong, with courtesy name Jungpyeong, pen name Baegunjae and posthumous title Chungui. He came from Sinnyeong in Gyeongsang (today around Yeongcheon).
He raised a volunteer force at Sinnyeong in April 1592, retook Yeongcheon Fortress in July and joined the effort to recover Gyeongju. In 1604 he was named a second-class Seonmu merit subject and enfeoffed as Hwasan-gun.
He is said to have raised troops at Sinnyeong on April 27, 1592, and in July retook Yeongcheon Fortress from the Japanese by siege. In August-September he also joined the battles to recover Gyeongju.
He is listed as holding posts such as Left Gyeongsang Army Commander, three-province Defense Commissioner, Chief of the Five Garrisons and Minister of Works, though some were reportedly not taken up. He became a second-class Seonmu merit subject in 1604 and was posthumously promoted in 1624.
He is enshrined at Gwicheon Seowon in Sinnyeong, Yeongcheon, and his portrait receives rites at Gyeongchungsa in the Chunghungak hall. Many relics are described as designated Treasures and kept at the Jinju National Museum, and the Baegunjae silgi survives. His son Gwon Gu was also named a third-class Seonmu Wonjong subject.
His tomb is described as lying at Cheongok, Aeryeon-ri, Cheongtong-myeon, Yeongcheon.
