Founding ancestor of the Gwangsan Kim clan (Prince Gwangsan)

Kim Heung-gwang (金興光) is the founding ancestor of the Gwangsan Kim clan. He is said to have been a descendant of the Silla royal house, but there are conflicting accounts—one that he was a son of King Heongang and another that he was a son of King Sinmu—so it is not clear of which king he was a prince.
Foreseeing that the country would fall into disorder at the end of Unified Silla, he left Gyeongju and secluded himself at Seoildong in Mujinju (present-day Pyeongjang-ri, Daejeon-myeon, Damyang-gun, South Jeolla Province). When his grandson Kim Gil distinguished himself in the founding of Goryeo, King Taejo Wang Geon enfeoffed him as Prince Gwangsan (光山府院君), and his descendants thereafter took Gwangsan (光山) as their ancestral seat. As many as eight Pyeongjangsa (Chancellors) came from among his descendants, so their home settlement was called Pyeongjangdong.
His grandson Kim Gil became a founding merit subject of Goryeo, and his descendants carried on as a distinguished family of ritual scholarship.
