Park Sa-hyeong was a Joseon filial son of the Gangneung Park clan, descendant of Park Su-ryang, with a younger brother Park Jong-hyeong. He lost his father early and served his mother devotedly.
When she fell ill he is said to have cut his finger and let blood drip into her mouth, reviving her, and when she craved meat he caught a duck with a thrown clod. After her death he kept a three-year vigil beside her grave.
The spring is said to have appeared when a spirit in a dream told him to dig beside the grave; it neither overflowed in floods nor dried in drought. Local scholars reported his conduct to the office several times and he received a commendation and partial exemption from corvee. His dates are unconfirmed and parts are tradition.
The spring tale is a tradition of heaven answering filial devotion.
His forebear Park Su-ryang was also known for filial piety.
Not confirmed; a tradition tells of a spring that rose beside the grave.
