Park Yeong-gyu (朴英規) was a local magnate of Seungju (present-day Suncheon) and is said to have been a son-in-law of Gyeon Hwon of Later Baekje. According to tradition he kept secret contact with Gyeon Hwon while serving under Gyeon Sin-geom and conveyed his intention to submit to Goryeo's founder Wang Geon in 936. After Goryeo's victory at the Battle of Illicheon he was absorbed into the Goryeo elite and is said to have risen to Samjungdaegwang and Jwaseung.
Three of his daughters entered the royal house: the eldest, Lady Dongsanwon, as a later consort of Taejo, and the second and third, Queen Mungong and Queen Munseong, as consorts of Jeongjong. The Suncheon Park clan honours him as founder. A tomb inscription is reported to have been found at Bakjang-gol in Yuseong, Daejeon, and his death is recorded as 970.
