Life & career

Yi Nul is a militia figure of the Imjin War presented as a Cheongan Yi. Namu Wiki says he raised troops and won distinction in the Imjin War, joined Gwak Jae-u at Hwawangseong in the Jeongyu War and led to victory at the battle of Palgongsan despite being wounded. The Chungcheong Ilbo series gives his rank as yeongjang (field commander).

After the war he is said to have spent his own wealth relieving the people and teaching the young. This is what lineage and local accounts report.

His hanja, life dates and source documents were not confirmed. The joining with Gwak Jae-u and details of the Palgongsan fight were not cross-checked in historical sources, so read them as 'said to be'.
