Life & career

Han Hwak (韓確, 1403–1456) was a civil official and royal in-law of early Joseon. As his sister became a concubine in the Ming imperial house, he played an important role in diplomacy with Ming.

He aided the enthronement of King Sejo, rose to Merit Subject Assisting the Wings (Jwaik Gongsin), and served as Left State Councillor (Jwauijeong). His daughter later became Queen Dowager Insu (Queen Sohye), the mother of King Seongjong. He died while returning from a mission to Ming China.
