Jang Taek-sang (1893-1969) was a South Korean politician known by his pen name Changnang. Born in Chilgok, North Gyeongsang Province, he was the son of provincial governor Jang Seung-won and a descendant of the Joseon-era scholar Jang Hyeon-gwang.
Following liberation, he served as chief of the Capital Police Bureau from October 1945 to 1948, leading the suppression of communist and leftist forces and surviving nine assassination attempts in the process. In August 1948 he became the first foreign minister of the newly founded Republic of Korea, but resigned that December after refusing a personnel request.
He served as the third prime minister of South Korea from May to October 1952, spearheading the controversial constitutional amendment during the Busan political crisis. He resigned after defeating Yi Beom-seok in the vice-presidential election and being sued by Yi's camp, and later served as a National Assembly member until his death in Seoul in August 1969.
