Jeon Ryong (全龍, b. 1559), a 42nd-generation Jeongseon Jeon, is founder of the Hu-seongneung-gun (Imhagun) branch; courtesy name Yeogyeon, pen name Seokcheon. During the Imjin War he escorted King Seonjo to Uiju and, it is said, was gravely wounded by Japanese troops while bringing the royal ancestral tablets, yet completed his task. In 1604 (Seonjo 37) he was named a third-class Hoseong merit subject and enfeoffed as Lord Seongneung.
The merit roll lists Yi Hang-bok and Jeong Gon-su in the first class, Yi Won-ik, Yun Du-su, Yu Seong-ryong and others in the second, and Jeon Ryong, Heo Jun, Jeong Tak and 53 others in the third; the clan says his name can be seen in the roll kept at Yu Seong-ryong's house in Hahoe, Andong. Rewards reportedly included a two-grade promotion, seven slaves, 60 gyeol of land, a horse and silver. His son Jeon Dae-ik served as magistrate of Cheongsong and Byeokdong.
The Hoseong merit title was conferred in 1604 on those who served King Seonjo on his flight to Uiju, with 86 people ranked in three classes. Jeon Ryong was placed in the third class and made Lord Seongneung. His line is called the Hu-seongneung-gun ("later Seongneung") branch to distinguish it from the Goryeo-era Lord Seongneung Jeon Yun-jang.
The clan says his fourth and fifth sons moved from Siheung to Seongju in 1592 amid the Imjin War. The Seonam area of Muhak-ri is still known as the seat of the Hu-seongneung-gun line.
His tomb was not confirmed. The clan association describes an annual family rite held on the first Sunday of November at the Lord Seongneung graveyard in Gwangmyeong, Gyeonggi (a 2017 account). Muhak-ri in Geumsu-myeon, Seongju has the Pyochungjae shrine and a spirit-path stele composed in 1936 by Prince Uihwa Yi Gang.
His fourth and fifth sons Jeon Dae-bung (Eomojang-gun, Buhogun) and Jeon Dae-bong (Gunjagam-jeong) moved from Siheung to Seongju during the Imjin War and settled around Seonam (Baewi Rock) in Muhak-ri, spreading to Junggeo-ri, Inchon-ri and Bongjeong-ri over some 400 years (Digital Seongju Culture Encyclopedia). About 203 reside around Seongju (2015).
