Sin Rip (申砬, 1546–1592) was a military commander of the mid-Joseon period. He won fame repelling the Jurchen in the north and was regarded as an outstanding cavalry commander and a master archer of his day.
When the Japanese invasions (Imjin War) broke out, as Supreme Frontier Commander of the Three Provinces (Samdo Sunbyeonsa) he set up a last-stand formation with his back to the river at Tan-geumdae in Chungju and fought the Japanese army, but was defeated and died for his country. He is a representative military commander of the Pyeongsan Sin clan.
