Jang Heon-bu (章獻富) raised volunteer troops at Geochang during the Imjin War. Namuwiki describes him as a Tonghun-daebu and Hunryeonwon-jubu who gathered several hundred volunteers with his father's cousin Jang Eung-hae. The Digital Geochang Culture Encyclopedia says he fought and died for the country, was named a Seonmu Wonjong merit subject, and was posthumously made Vice-Minister of War (Byeongjo Chamui). His birth year is unknown.
Both sources say he fell fighting at Jinju Fortress. After the first siege in 1592 there was a second in June 1593 in which most volunteers are known to have died, but at which he fell could not be confirmed. The death year 1593 given here is an inference from the second siege being the best known and should be verified against genealogies. The Seonmu Wonjong award was a post-war honor, and his exact rank in it could not be confirmed.
In the same era Jang Heon-hwi is said to have fallen at Noryang. That several close kin gave their lives is remembered with pride in the Geochang Jang clan.
The year of death, his rank within the Seonmu Wonjong merit list and his relation to Jang Eung-hae need confirming through genealogies or the Veritable Records.
His grave could not be confirmed.
