Jang Il-nam (章逸男) was a military officer under King Injo. According to Namuwiki he passed the military examination and won merit in Yi Gwal's rebellion (1624) and the 1627 Manchu invasion, and in the 1636 Manchu invasion he guarded the king at Namhansanseong. The Digital Geochang Culture Encyclopedia likewise says he escorted the king at Namhansanseong and accompanied the crown prince to Shenyang.
It is well known that King Injo took refuge in Namhansanseong, surrendered in the first month of the next year, and that Crown Prince Sohyeon was then taken to Shenyang as a hostage. That Jang Il-nam accompanied him there comes from Geochang Jang sources; his exact post, the length of his stay and his dates could not be confirmed here.
Coming after Jang Man-ri of the Imjin War, his story is introduced as an example of the Geochang Jang clan leaving its name as military officers in each war.
His exact post, escort period and dates are unknown. Please check the Geochang Jang genealogy or the Geochang county history.
His grave could not be confirmed.
